Brasilia Ottoman - Textile
The Audo Copenhagen Brasilia Ottoman completes the Brasilia collection in a way that actually matters - it's not just a matching piece you buy because it exists, it genuinely makes the lounge chair setup work better. Designed by Anderssen & Voll to complement their Brasilia chairs, this ottoman features the same design DNA with those robust cylindrical legs and a softly curved cushion that references both mid-20th century Danish craftsmanship and Brazilian Modernism. At 74cm wide, 55.5cm deep, and 40cm high, it's sized perfectly as a footrest for the Brasilia lounge chairs while being substantial enough to function independently. Available in walnut, natural oak, or dark-stained oak frames paired with soft bouclé fabrics or Dunes aniline leather upholstery, you can match it to your existing chair or deliberately contrast materials for visual interest.
What makes the Brasilia Ottoman more useful than typical footstools is how versatile it actually is in daily life. Obviously it works as intended with the matching lounge chair - prop your feet up and you've got a proper lounging situation that's comfortable for reading, watching TV, or just zoning out. But it also functions as low-lying extra seating when unexpected guests show up and you need somewhere for them to perch, or as a surface for resting newspapers, magazines, laptops, or a tray when you're working from your living room. The cushioning is substantial enough to be comfortable but firm enough that it doesn't sink when you set things on it. The cylindrical legs echo the rounded front legs of the Brasilia chairs, creating visual continuity if you're using them together, but the ottoman looks intentional even on its own. The construction quality matches the chairs - solid wood joinery techniques that handle daily use, upholstery that ages well rather than just wearing out. Available in multiple fabric and leather options from soft textured bouclé to luxurious aniline leather that develops character over time.
Audo Copenhagen was formed by uniting MENU, by Lassen, and The Audo, creating a brand that draws from Danish design heritage while collaborating with contemporary designers like Norwegian duo Anderssen & Voll. Torbjørn Anderssen and Espen Voll established their Oslo studio in 2009 after years of collaboration, and their work has earned numerous international awards including Wallpaper* Design Awards and Red Dot Awards. Their design process involves meticulous attention to detail - from initial coffee conversations through sketches, computer renderings, and elaborate scale models refined until nothing more can be added or subtracted. This philosophy aligns perfectly with Audo's approach to creating furniture with lasting appeal through quality materials and thoughtful craftsmanship that enhances everyday living rather than following fleeting trends.
